The original home of the community was an eleven-room summer residence owned by the Timsons. The community grew in March 2001 to include two new apartment blocks and 54 cottages. Free-standing chapel
The Evangelist Chapel can be found at Saint John's on the Lake. This is an independent chapel located in the community's episcopal retirement area of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Its design was inspired by the Syriac Christian synagogue-churches. Architect Alvin Holm designed the building and designer Steven Semes designed the furnishings. Both architects envisioned a chapel that would serve as a center for spiritual renewal, worship, and social activity.
